Building Blocks for Kids Collaborative Offers Nurturing Parenting Course
BBK offers periodic parent education opportunities to be held at the Center for Health and Healing. The upcoming Nurturing Parenting series will be facilitated by the Child Abuse Prevention Council, a BBK member organization. The Nurturing Parenting classes begin on July 14th, 2014 and continue for 22 weeks, convening Monday evenings from 5:30-7:30pm. The class is free and dinner and child care are provided.
The class focuses on family instruction – for both parents and other family caregivers of children 0-5 and there is a special, complementary program for the children. The curriculum promotes child wellbeing and reduces risk factors for child abuse. Nurturing Parenting instructors include Sonya Smith-Hodge from the Youth Service Bureau and Lakisha Hill, a long-time parent educator at BBK. The class will also include three free specially arranged trips to Fairyland!
BBK will be offering a second session of the same series beginning in January 2015.
