Since 2009, our Community Engagement and Advocacy Team of staff and resident leaders has hosted dozens of monthly Dinner Dialogues to receive direction from BBK Zone residents about ways for improving their children’s educational outcomes, health and wellness, safety, and their families’ self-sufficiency.

BikeFiestaThe Collaborative holds an annual Family Bike Fiesta each May. This event promotes community, family, and cycling as a healthy and economical way for people of all ages to travel, and builds support for safe streets. The first Bike Fiesta exceeded attendance expectations, with over 200 families, and 450 people participating.

AA-BabyshowerThe African American Baby Shower is a model event for new and pregnant African American parents where participating members of the African American Health Initiative and BBK Collaborative organizations provide education and workshops related to nutrition, physical activity, strategies for ensuring healthy baby and child outcomes, and a Men’s Involvement Group.
